If you really knew how much power you have at any given moment – creative power that can blaze trails and form favorable outcomes in all areas of your life – you would never feel powerless or frightened again.
Through the conscious use of gratitude and appreciation you can access this power very easily. How? By appreciating and feeling grateful about an outcome you want before it even happens. Let’s use a few examples to demonstrate this power.
Imagine that you applied for a great job and had an interview, which seemed to go well. You really want this job, but you’re worried because there were other candidates that are just as skilled and experienced as you are.
Many people immediately fall into a pessimistic focus and say things like, “I probably won’t get the job. It would be perfect for me, but I’m not sure I convinced the interviewer that I’m the right choice.” From a creation standpoint, this type of thinking can block your desired outcome.
But what if you could use “gratitude in advance” to make your desired outcome more likely?
Example:

“Thank you so much for letting me get this job. I know I’m perfect for it, and I’m sure the interviewer could see that. And even if this particular job doesn’t work out, I believe that an even better job will come my way very soon. Thank you for leading me to the perfect job for me!” Then focus on that feeling of gratitude for already having the perfect job – just as you would feel after you find out you got it.
Using appreciation would work in almost the same way, except you would focus more on appreciating what a great job can do for you and how having it would make you feel.
Example:
“I appreciate knowing that my skills will be used in a positive way. I appreciate the security that comes from having a steady, well-paying job. I appreciate feeling useful and challenged in my work. I appreciate the way the interviewer handled my interview, she seemed genuinely interested in my prior work contributions. I appreciate this feeling of anticipation as I wait to hear about this job – I won’t be surprised at all if I get it. And even if I don’t, I know there are many more companies out there who will appreciate my skills and talents.”
Both gratitude and appreciation instantly dissolve any doubts, insecurities and fears that would have otherwise held back your outcome from manifesting. However, even if that particular job didn’t work out for you, you would very likely attract another great opportunity just because you’re so open to it.
You can use this same process for just about anything.
Here’s one for money:

Gratitude: “Thank you so much for allowing me more than enough money to cover my needs each month. Sometimes it seems like I don’t have enough, but that is an illusion because the moment I start aligning my thoughts with having more money, more money starts coming in again. I’m so grateful for having a roof over my head. I’m so grateful that I can afford to buy warm clothing, food to eat, and a comfortable bed to sleep in. I know that my financial situation will keep improving over time, and one of these days I won’t even have to think about money because I’ll know that I always have enough. I’m so grateful for that, thank you.”
Appreciation: “I love the feeling of having plenty of money in the bank. That may not always be true for me, but it has been true at various times, and just thinking about those times fills me with a sense of appreciation for abundance. I love being able to write checks to pay my bills and knowing that there will be enough money in the bank to cover them. I love having money to go shopping and buy things I love. I love having $20, $50, $100 in my pocket and knowing that I can spend it however I like. I look forward to having more money soon. Having plenty of money makes me feel secure, comfortable, excited and free. I appreciate those feelings!”
You can do the same thing for health issues, relationship issues, and much more!
Just call to mind how you will feel when your desired outcome becomes reality, and be grateful for it as if it already has. Or, pick out things about your desired outcome that you can appreciate and focus on them for several minutes.
If you’ve never done this you may think it sounds too good to be true, but start practicing it in your everyday life and you’ll soon be amazed at how well it can work!
